What's happened since leaving Central

1. I practiced Medicine off of City Line Avenue until 1999, then took a private practice opportunity in Naples, FL and haven't looked back. Beat the naysayers and finally got married 1997. So while most of you are grandparents, I've got a thirteen year old daughter! and learning to cope.

2. Do miss Bala Golf Club, the Orchestra, singing Gilbert & Sullivan with the Savoy Company, singing Verdi with Bel Canto Lyric Opera, going to Saturday matinees at the Metropolitan Opera.

3. Do not miss snow, ice, cold, sleet, hail, shovels, traffic jams, crime and HMO's. West coast of Florida is much different from the East coast. Much more Mid-West influence, from up and down the I-75 corridor. Come look at Naples for a second (or first) home.

4. I am about to birth a first novel in the Fall. Stay tuned.

Central's influence in my life

Like everyone else, Central's influence is massive. Today is May 17th. It's been 24 hours since I sent Mike Rieder the 30 newly-unearthed photos of the Miss 224 Dance. I couldn't upload them, so I put them in a Power Point. Within an hour (on Saturday!) he had the entire reunion committee at work regarding ways to import a Power Point into this site (not easy). Everyone jumped on it and I started getting emails about how to this and how to that, (along with a few prime jokes). Now..... these are guys I haven't seen (mostly) in 50 years! Yet the camaraderie, concern, friendship and (yes) affection felt exactly the same as when we were planning that Dance, so long ago. So I have to say, not only do the memories "never die", the feeling and the camaraderie "never die" as well. Tonight the difficult job of getting those slides onto the site is completed, I think by Mike and Mark Lipshutz. Everyone please go and look at their work. Thanks guys!

Guys: as I mentioned earlier, the invasive python species is not a joke. They are becoming a severe enough problem that it is a threat to the ecosystem of the Everglades, almost next door to us here on West Coast of Florida.

OK.....my point with this frivolity is that it’s much preferable to the nastiness and sometimes personally threatening nature of posts and debate that have appeared here recently. A few actually have personal safety concerns about attending the next function and interacting with some others. I will now personally support Mike’s closing this space down in the interest of civility, DK

I accept Dr D Kaplan’s python hunting challenge on behalf of east coast Floridians, and members of the 1st string team, Barry Drossner, Alan Tuckerman, Bob Cherwony, Dave Kauffman, Matt Garfield, Dave Ginsberg, Eric Schmid, and honorary member Mike Bosniak!
In anticipation of the challenge, I have collected several thousand iguanas, previously frozen into unconsciousness in last week’s cold snap, who are now fully back to life and starving to eat python, or any west Floridian they encounter.
Eat or be eaten is our motto. May the hungriest team win.
